Description
Powerful Image Processing
The GFX100 features a back-illuminated, large format 102MP imaging sensor and the powerful X-Processor 4 engine, working together seamlessly to achieve 16-bit images with excellent colour fidelity, incredibly rich shadow detail, and an astonishing dynamic range.
The sensor’s innovative back-illuminated structure brings the exposure plane closer to the colour filter array in order to enhance image quality; minimising the noise levels you would usually find with a mirrorless camera and extending the native ISO to ISO 100; and even enhancing the sharpness while keeping moiré and false colours to an absolute minimum.
The GFX100 also features a motion sensor retention mechanism that suppresses even the smallest vibrations that occur as a result of camera shake and even the movement of the shutter, resulting in smooth, high-resolution images every time.
Focal Plane Shutter with Shock Absorber
The GFX100 features a durable focal plane shutter that has been purpose-built for the GFX100 to support its large format CMOS sensor, offering more than 150,000 shutter actuations and combining an electronic front curtain shutter with a near-silent mechanical shutter with a max. speed of 1/4000sec to achieve continuous shooting of up to 5.0fps.
This shutter features a shock absorption mechanism wherein a shutter unit that is suspended on all sides is able to absorb even the smallest shake caused when the shutter is used, reducing image blur and ensuring high quality photos and videos.
In-Body Image Stabilisation
The GFX100’s 5-axis in-body image stabilisation system (IBIS) provides up to 5.0 stops of image stabilisation, working in tandem with the camera’s dual processor and gyroscopic accelerometers to achieve stability, speed, and unparalleled precision — providing excellent image-making capabilities, even in low-light conditions or when using the GFX100 with a non-optically stabilised Fujifilm lens.
Fast, Reliable & Near-Silent Autofocus
The GFX100 uses its powerful sensor and X-Processor 4 to provide an advanced performance when it comes to face and eye tracking, easily picking out a single face in a large crowd and keeping them in focus — even if they are in motion. In Eye AF mode, you can even specify which eye you would like the camera to prioritise; a feature that is especially useful for portrait photography when focus accuracy is need with a very shallow depth of field. Use the touch screen LCD panel, or the newly designed focus lever to select which subject you would like the camera to track, focus, and adjust exposure to.
Creative Control
With decades of experience in colour science under their belt, Fujifilm have deservedly garnered a legendary reputation among photographers and videographers alike. Harnessing their impressive breadth of knowledge, the GFX100 features multiple Film Simulations. Each Film Simulation offers specially formulated depth, saturation, and tonality that requires little to no postproduction adjustment — providing greater creative freedom, achieving a unique feel and style to images and videos tailored to your preferences. Each Film Simulation will reproduce colours and tones from Fujifilm’s most popular analogue films and photo finishing processes. Please see the Film Simulations tab above for more information.
Format, Size & Aspect
With the GFX100, images can be captured in various formats and image qualities, including uncompressed/lossless compressed RAW and JPEG formats of varying imaging sizes, aspect ratios, and compression ratios. With in-camera RAW processing, the GFX100 can even save 8-bit or 10-bit colour depth images as 8-bit or 16-bit TIFF files. Plus, when using a 35mm format lens via a mount adapter, the GFX100 is capable of capturing images in a 36.0 x 24.0 mm frame at the centre (60.8M) in JPEG or TIFF formats.
Image Effects
Features a range of useful image effects, including Grain Effect, used to lend a graininess to images reminiscent of analogue photography; Colour Chrome Effect, which adds deeper tonal gradation to a subject matter with highly saturated colours; and Smooth Skin Effect, which smooth the skin and lends a more flattering complexion to your subject when shooting portraiture.
Professional Movie Making
When it comes to image-making, the GFX100 doesn’t just achieve unprecedented image quality for still photography, but, using the full power of its large format sensor, the GFX100 is also perfect for creating stunning, professional-looking movies.
Combining the large format CMOS sensor (which is larger than the sensors found in most cinema cameras) with the power of the X-Processor 4, the GFX100 will support 4K/30P video — producing a beautifully shallow depth-of-field, an enhanced tonal gradient in 10-bit output, and greater ISO sensitivity. More detailed textures and three-dimensional definition is achieved thanks to the large format sensor, allowing you to create incredibly true-to-life videos. All the Film Simulations available in still image-making are available when shooting video.
Robust & Reliable
The Fujifilm GFX100 features an incredibly robust magnesium alloy bodyshell that can withstand any of the everyday bumps, knocks, and scrapes that you would come to expect when shooting in varying environments, making it perfect for all types of photography — from street photography, portraiture, and dramatic landscape photography. The inner frame couples directly with the sensor and the in-body image stabilisation unit, providing complete rigidity through the lens to the sensor.
With 95 weatherproof seals across the exterior of the camera, the GFX100 can be used in any scenario, regardless of how challenging the weather conditions. Whether you’ve found yourself in the midst of a torrential downpour, caught off-guard by dense dust clouds, or even if you’ve ended up in an unforgiving blizzard, this camera will carry on shooting as though nothing has happened thanks to its dust- and moisture-resistant design.
Plus, for those who need to venture into colder climates, the GFX100 has you covered, working reliably, and remaining unaffected by extreme temperatures reaching down to -10°C.
Comfort & Convenience
The ability to work regardless of conditions is, of course, a great advantage for any photographer, but comfort also plays a huge part in the image-making process. Nobody wants to experience hand cramp, shoulder pain, or eye fatigue when capturing the perfect image, which is why the GFX100 has been constructed with ergonomics at the forefront of its design.
Complementing the shutter’s shock absorbing structure and the in-body image stabilisation system, the GFX100’s ergonomic grip has been shaped to remain comfortable in hand and provide added stability during handheld photography. This grip guarantees a firm hold on the camera, whilst also offering far greater balance when using a larger lens.
Plus, as the first camera in the Fujifilm range to feature a horizontal grip, the GFX100 boasts a much thinner and lighter body, and allows for quick switching between portrait and landscape photography — without ever becoming cumbersome.
The GFX100’s construction has been designed with a clear goal in mind: to keep the user as comfortable as possible when capturing beautiful images and videos.
Customisable Comfort
A 3.2” 2.36-million dot LCD monitor offers 100% coverage, tilting in three directions: 90° upwards, 45° downwards, and 60° to the right — meaning, where inconvenient angles would previously hinder capturing the perfect image, the GFX100 can capture it with ease, without the photographer becoming uncomfortable.
A 2.5” sub monitor can be configured to display a variety of data which could previously be found on the main LCD monitor. This sub monitor can be customised to display the exposure compensation gauge and histogram in order to enable exposure adjustment whilst checking the exposure level. This sub monitor frees up space on the main LCD display and allows you to focus more on framing your composition perfectly.
Move to the top panel and you’ll find a clear, 1.8” black and white sub LCD monitor on which the main shooting settings can be found. These settings include shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation, function icons, remaining number of frames (stills), and remaining filming time. This convenient little display can be configured to user preference, providing all the data you find most important whilst shooting. Data will even change accordingly when switching from stills photography to video recording, and vice versa.
A detachable 5.76 million dot electronic viewfinder (EVF) provides 100% coverage so you can see a true-to-life representation of the scene in front of you. Plus, you can even select resolution priority, frame rate priority, and AF priority in boost mode for live view.
