Description

102MP Large Format Sensor

The Fujifilm GFX100S features a large format 43.8×32.9mm imaging sensor packed with 102MP of resolution, providing superior detail in any image or video footage. This large format sensor offers unprecedented flexibility, reaching further and deeper into scenes, revealing exceptional levels of colour fidelity and stunning shadow detail with enough dynamic range to enable excellent push and pull adjustments in post-production.

Recording almost imperceptible shifts in colour tones, this large format sensor achieves unparalleled colour accuracy and can output 16-bit images, delivering true-to-life pictures or videos with up to 281 trillion colours on display.

Combined with the resolving power of G Mount lenses, this camera faithfully reproduces every detail in a picture — from an eyelash in a portrait to the smallest blade of grass in landscape photography.

X-Processor 4

Resolving power is nothing without control, which is why the GFX100S features an X-Processor 4 processor to deliver high quality images at lightning speed, time and time again, with decades of technical knowhow behind every single image captured on the device.

Pixel Shift Multi-Shot

The GFX100S’s Pixel Shift Multi-Shot function reproduces the finest details with pristine colour accuracy, combining 16 RAW files to create a single 400MP image. These images are created by moving the image sensor to record red, green, and blue data from every pixel — a process that results in unparalleled colour reproduction, minimal false colours, exceptional colour fidelity, and sumptuous detail.

Compatible With G Mount Lenses

The GFX100S is designed to accommodate G Mount lenses. Engineered to keep pace with the camera’s large format sensor, these lenses feature a short flange focal distance, allowing the GFX100S to remain compact and lightweight. G Mount lenses, when combined with the GFX100S’s large format, are designed to prevent peripheral light fall off and achieve remarkable edge-to-edge sharpness.

Focal Plane Shutter with Shock Absorber

A redesigned shutter unit is 15% lighter than the shutter unit found in the original GFX100, but this reduction in size in no way compromises the camera’s performance, reaching more than 150,000 actuations* over its lifetime. With five available shutter types, including a silent electronic shutter, regardless of your environment, you can choose the shutter options that makes the most of the conditions you are working with. This shutter unit is equipped with a dedicated shock absorber to provide a quicker shutter response, enhance performance, minimise any sign of shutter shock, and eliminate vibrations.

Focus Options

Using a cutting-edge focus algorithm and phase detection autofocus (PDAF) pixels across the entire frame, the GFX100S achieves a fast and accurate autofocus.

Face & Eye Detection AF

Advanced Face and Eye Detection algorithms ensure portrait images are always in focus, even when using wide apertures to create images with a shallow depth-of-field. Eye Detection AF allows you to prioritise which eye the camera focuses on and Face Detection AF (used with the GFX100S’s touchscreen or focus lever) allows you to select, track, and perfectly expose one face in a large crowd of people.

Focus Tracking

Fujifilm’s revised focusing algorithm allows the camera to stay in focus when capturing a moving object. All you need to do is align the focusing point over the desired subject and wide/tracking mode will ensure it stays sharp and in focus as they move around the frame.

Focus Bracketing

This camera will enable you to achieve more than the capabilities of conventional aperture settings, providing stunning detail and astonishing sharpness through its focus bracketing mode. This mode is ideal for studio-based static subjects in consistent lighting. All you need to do is specify the nearest and furthest points you need in focus, then just leave the GFX100S to determine the number of frames and steps required.

In-Body Image Stabilisation System

Even though it is almost two times the size of any full-frame imaging sensor, the GFX100S features a 102MP Bayer array inside a compact and weather resistant bodyshell that is smaller in size when compared to some full frame cameras — but it still manages to pack in a five-axis image stabilisation system that allows you to move away from the tripod and shoot confidently in freehand, safe in the knowledge that the results will be just as crystal-clear as if your camera was locked to a tripod.

This in-body stabilisation system (IBIS) has been redesigned to be 20% smaller and 10% lighter than the original GFX100, providing up to six stops of five-axis stabilisation — dramatically broadening your creative possibilities when it comes to hand-held shooting, in a wide variety of environmental scenarios and lighting conditions.

Film Simulation Modes

With a legendary reputation among photographers and cinematographers when it comes to colour science, the GFX100S uses its world-renowned digital colour processor engine to provide access to Fujifilm’s wealth of experience at just the touch of a button. Offering a choice of 19 exclusive Film Simulation modes — including the new NOSTALGIC Neg. mode, designed to replicate the look and feel of old images through rich colours in the shadows and soft tonality in the mid-tones and highlights — this camera makes it incredibly easy to achieve vibrant colour straight out of the camera. See the Film Simulations tab to find out more.

Wide Selection of Formats & Qualities

The GFX100S offers incredible flexibility, with a wide selection of image formats and qualities, including uncompressed and lossless compress RAW & JPEG formats in varying image sizes, aspect ratios, and compression ratios. Its in-camera RAW processing provides the options of saving 8-, 10-, or 16-bit TIFF files. It even has the ability to record a centred 36x24mm image when using a 35mm format lens with a compatible mount adaptor.

Creative Film Effects

Creative film-like effects are included to enable image enhancement. These effects include Grain Effect, used for replicating the graininess found in analogue photos; Colour Chrome Effect, used to add deeper tonal gradation to a subject with highly saturated colours; and Smooth Skin Effect, used to smooth the skin tones on portraits.

White Balance

This camera’s white balance can be set to Auto, Custom, Colour Temperature, or Preset, and can be fine-tuned in the WB Shift feature with RB colour coordinates. When the white balance is set to Custom mode, the GFX100S will measure the ambient light to determine the white balance; you can even adjust size and location settings to register three presets. Preset mode includes: Daylight, Shade, Fluorescent Light (Warm White), Fluorescent Light (Cool White), Incandescent Light, and Underwater.

4K Movie Mode

The GFX100S’s large format sensor isn’t just used for still imagery, switching over to movie mode will allow you to create naturally cinematic footage, capturing 4K/30p movies in unparalleled detail with a shallow depth-of-field, wide tonal gradation, and impressive ISO sensitivity in either 10-bit F-log or 12-bit ProRes RAW. This processor will also facilitate a bit rate of 400 Mbps, the commonly used 17:9 aspect ratio, and support for common compression codecs such as H.265 and H.264.

The full selection of 19 Film Simulation modes available in photo mode is also available for movie mode, including ETERNA, which is designed for movie makers and has been used in the making of many movie masterpieces.

Multiple Movie Recording Formats

With the GFX100S, 4K video recording can be achieved in either 16:9 or 17:9 aspect ratios, utilising the full width of its large format 43.8×32.9mm imaging sensor. This results in an imaging surface that is larger than many large format cinema cameras available today — resulting in films that look like they belong on the big screen.

This camera is capable of recording in 10-bit F-Log or Hybrid Gamma Log (HLG), a REC.2100 supported standard. Recording footage in these formats provides greater flexibility when it comes to post-production as footage is taken through the colour grading process where adjustments are made to luminance, colour saturation, and a wide range of other image attributes.

The GFX100S allows for 4K/30p 10-bit output when recording straight to an SD card or via the camera’s HDMI port. The X-Processor 4 imaging engine records 4:2:0 10-bit data to an SD card at up to 400 Mbps*. When H.265 codec is selected and 4:2:2 10-bit through the HDMI port, All-Intra and Long-GOP codecs are also available†.

RAW Recording Capabilities

When it comes to image-based adjustments and colour grading options, the GFX100S provides maximum flexibility through its ability to record 4K/30P footage in 12-bit RAW, directly to an Atomos Ninja V Monitor Recorder via HDMI, to be recorded as Apple ProRes RAW files — allowing you to make stylistic adjustments to the image in post-production, free from any in-camera processing. Simultaneous output of RAW footage and footage in F-Log or Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) with a Film Simulation mode applied is also possible.

Compact & Lightweight

With a robust magnesium design and a body that is 1mm thicker than previous camera iterations, you don’t need to worry about the everyday bumps, knocks, and scrapes that occur whilst shooting. Providing the additional rigidity and support needed when using a G Mount lens, the GFX100S may be incredibly robust, but it remains light and comfortable to hold for long periods of shooting. It even boasts weatherproof qualities, as it is sealed in 60 places — easily handling challenging weather and adverse environmental conditions. This camera can operate in temperatures as low as -10°C (14°F) and is both dust- and moisture-resistant.

Electronic Viewfinder

Featuring a 3.69 million dot electronic viewfinder (EVF), the GFX100S provides a comfortable viewing experience, with specially designed lens elements within the EVF used to present a high-definition image and a dioptre included for even greater comfort.

Intuitive Functionality

Breaking away from the large format convention, the Fujifilm GFX100S prioritises in-hand comfort through its ergonomic design and features a feather-touch shutter release, customisable buttons, a top-plate PASM dial, a convenient sub-LCD monitor, and a redesigned focus lever.

Customisable Mode Dial

Designed to make large format photography more accessible and intuitive than ever for both new and existing GFX system users, the GFX100S’s customisable mode dial remains universally familiar, making it easy to switch between frequently used modes in an instant. Switching from still image to movie mode is also nice and simple via the lever located next to this mode dial — making it easy to switch between mode and when shooting.

LCD Top-Plate Monitor

Its 1.8” top-plate LCD monitor allows you to instantly check the status of the GFX100S’d key camera functions. With a black and white display presenting all of the most important information with crystal clarity, this LCD monitor keeps you informed about shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, and remaining frames. This display is programmable, meaning you can choose the information shown by way of preference.

Redesigned Focus Lever

Its redesigned focus lever is flatter and much more comfortable to control, but the shape of the lever isn’t the only thing that has been enhanced, with upgraded firmware included to make selecting the perfect focusing point that much easier.

Feather Touch Shutter

It may be designed for use in tough and rugged environments, but the GFX100S has been designed for even the lightest of touches, with a feather-light shutter release that reacts to subtle movements and pressures, reacting instantaneously in both portrait and landscape orientations. Switch to the electronic front curtain shutter for a quicker response that minimises shutter lag.

Customisable Menu & Buttons

Tailor the camera to your shooting style with the six customisable settings on the PASM dial, the 16 customisable functions in the quick menu, or the ability to map your most frequently used functions to the selection of programmable buttons on the camera’s body.

Tilt LCD

To get that perfect shot, sometimes you have to place your camera in some weird and wonderful positions, which is why this camera features a 3-way tilt LCD screen. This 3.2”, 2.36 million dot LCD panel offers 100% coverage and three tilting directions: 90° upward, 45° downward, and 60° to the right — allowing you to capture that perfect image no matter how awkward a position you find yourself in.
