Designed to remain compact and lightweight as it offers an incredibly powerful performance, the X-E4 combines exceptional quality with unparalleled portability. Its compact dimensions and rangefinder styling make this camera the perfect companion for everyday photographers, and the analogue-era metal dials on the top-plate make checking settings easier than ever — even when the camera is switched off.

At just 32.7 mm deep and weighing a mere 364 grams, the X-E4 is extremely portable, stowing away nicely in a small bag or even your jacket pocket. But even with such small proportions, this camera still features a stunning, sophisticated design, with a magnesium alloy top-plate, metal dials, and genuine leather on the body lending the X-E4 some seriously stylish vintage aesthetics.

Intuitive Operation

The X-E4 features a new Program (P) setting on the shutter speed dial. When using this mode, the camera chooses the aperture and the shutter speed for optimal exposure, allowing the user to capture high-quality images in fleeting moments, without worrying about adjusting the settings. For more experienced photographers who prefer to retain creative control when it comes to their compositions, selecting the desired shutter speed is as simple as twisting the shutter speed dial.

A rangefinder-style electronic viewfinder (EVF) located on the left side of the camera body offers an enhanced viewing experience, remaining comfortable during long periods of image capture whilst allowing you to keep an eye on the scene in front of you. Frame up your subject and the X-E4’s 2.36 million dot display offers enough detail to let you preview colour and exposure before pressing the shutter release.

Plus, in instances where you can’t get your eye to the EVF, the X-E4’s 180° tilting LCD screen allows for greater freedom when framing your composition. Simply reposition the screen when shooting at awkward angles to keep an eye on the scene in front of you and perfect your framing.

Cutting-Edge Image-Making

Just like every other camera in the Fujifilm X series, at the heart of the X-E4 sits the X-Trans CMOS 4 imaging sensor. With a unique design that fits effortlessly within the camera’s compact body, this sensor provides professional-level image-making performance across everything from colour reproduction to its best-in-class autofocusing capabilities.

This back-side illuminated 26.1MP sensor minimises moiré (the optical phenomenon that produces unwanted patterns in digital images when two patterns with similar frequencies interact), without the need for an optical low pass filter that would usually affect the quality of your images, and excels when it comes to making beautiful images in almost any lighting conditions. It also features 2.16 million phase detection autofocus (PDAF) pixels used to cover 100% of the frame, achieving a lightning-fast autofocus with unwavering accuracy, regardless of the subject’s position.

This sensor works in tandem with the X-Processor 4, Fujifilm’s high-quality image processor, to achieve the very best performance from the X-E4. This processor makes full use of the technology that drives the camera’s professional features, achieving an image processing combination capable of delivering multiple Film Simulation modes, encoding 4K videos, utilising improved autofocusing algorithms, and much more.

Best-in-Class Auto Focus

Taking the perfect photo is often dependent on a photographer’s equipment and its ability to capture even the most fleeting of moments, this means the camera’s ability to focus quickly and adjust accurately to every movement is vital. This is where the X-E4’s incredible auto focus performance comes into play, working effortlessly to capture incredibly crisp, highly-detailed photos that remain in focus regardless of lighting conditions.

Using the same system as other cameras in the Fujifilm X Series, the X-E4 can achieve accurate, lightning-fast focusing in just 0.02 seconds, harnessing the power of the X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and the X-Processor 4 to track subjects around the frame with staggering precision. Plus, its enhanced Face and Eye Detection AF uses phase detection pixels placed widely across the frame and an enhanced AF algorithm to ensure human subjects remain in focus even as they move around the frame.

When it comes to photography in darker lighting conditions, the X-E4’s intelligent hybrid phase detection auto focus delivers sharp, crystal-clear results. Attaching the XF50mm F1.0 RWR and this camera will focus in light as low as -7EV, with astonishing accuracy achieved where many other cameras may fall short.

Auto focus performance doesn’t let up when it comes to non-human fast moving subjects, with its algorithm detecting shapes and colours to identify objects and keep them in focus with its high-speed tracking capabilities. To achieve tracking AF, simply half-press the shutter release.

Film Simulation Modes & Effects

Utilising 85+ years of expertise in colour science, the Fujifilm X-E4 features multiple Film Simulation modes, each of which offers specially formulated depth, saturation, and tonality that requires little to no postproduction adjustment. These Film Simulation modes provide photographers and videographers with greater creative freedom, achieving a unique feel and style to their images tailored to their preferences. Pictorial Effects

A selection of pictorial effects are included to provide you with even more creative freedom, with options including:

• Colour Chrome Blue adds more depth and provides a more natural feel to a composition by enhancing the vividness of blue colours in the frame.
• Colour Chrome Effect adds depth, detail, and a vividness to red, green, and yellow tones where saturation is too high to achieve true gradation, resulting in an image that is closer to what the human eye can see. You can use Colour Chrome Blue to adjust the values in just the blue tones, or you can adjust them separately in three levels to match your subject perfectly.
• Clarity Control allows you to fine-tune your camera settings to match your personal preferences, achieving a crisp sharpness or a softer feel to images through 11 levels of control.
• Monochromatic Colour offers the choice of Warm/Cool tones and Magenta/Green hues, allowing you to add rich gradation to your images for personalised results.

Movie Mode

The X-E4 doesn’t stop at still images, with high-resolution movie making capabilities allowing you to capture stunning videos in crystal-clear 4K. This 4K output is oversampled from an original 6K signal and allows the X-E4 to deliver high-resolution footage with minimal noise and incredible sharpness.

Each Film Simulation modes available in photo mode is available when shooting in movie mode — including ETERNA/CINEMA, the motion picture film stock that has been used in countless blockbusters.

Plus, you can even record Full-HD high-speed movies at 240 frames per second, enabling video playback at normal speed; achieving smooth, high-quality footage that can be slowed down up to 10 times for added dramatic effect.
