Vintage Design, Modern Performance

With its classic design, including a beautiful titanium finish and traditional-style viewfinder, and its powerful technological components, including the X-Trans CMOS 4 and motion blur reduction, the X-Pro3 provides a vintage feel to the image-making experience, but produces the exceptional results expected from a high-performing modern-day camera.

Description

Performance

The Fujifilm X-Pro3’s vintage design belies its thoroughly modern performance, utilising a new firmware algorithm designed to harness the incredible capabilities of the fourth-generation X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and X-Processor 4 CPU found inside.

Optical Viewfinder

The addition of both an optical viewfinder (OVF) and an electronic viewfinder (EVF) provides the photographer with greater versatility when it comes to maintaining control over a scene. For example, the rangefinder OVF provides them with a true-to-life view of the scene in front of them, allowing them to focus on the composition, without worrying about any settings changes or colour filters. Additional data can be displayed in the bottom right-hand corner when using the OVF, allowing the photographer to use Live View, enlarge AF points, and display post-view for significantly greater versatility.

Electronic Viewfinder

With the EVF, however, the photographer can achieve greater control over their composition; still providing them with a full view of the scene but allowing them to change settings and customise their composition in real-time — providing a sense of how the final image could look in postproduction. This EVF uses a high-contrast organic LED panel that covers 97% of the sRGB colour spectrum, offering accurate colour reproduction and better detail in the shadows and highlights — allowing the user to spot subtle differences when choosing between Film Simulations. Plus, to ensure the X-Pro3 remains the perfect choice for on-the-fly shooting, a black frame is inserted between frames to reduce motion blur within then EVF.

Low Light Autofocus

The X-Pro3’s autofocus system works down to -6EV, eliminating the limitations one finds during low-light photography. These capabilities enable shooting in situations deemed as “pitch darkness”, with an AF system that has evolved enough to achieve reliable autofocus even when the human eye is struggling to pick out shapes within a scene.

HDR Mode

The X-Pro3 combines images to expand the dynamic range (DR), photographically reproducing the wider dynamic range that occurs naturally, whilst simultaneously producing a new type of high dynamic range (HDR) that displays smooth tonality and more vibrant and beautiful colours.

Multi Exposure

The X-Pro3 can also merger up to 9 frames in Additive, Average, Comparative Bright, or Comparative Dark modes — combining images taken through the camera at different viewpoints or at different times into a single image. Different Film Simulations can be applied to each frame, and colour fragments can be pasted onto monochrome pictures to create a beautiful multi-layered collage.

Film Simulations & Colour Modes

The X-Pro3 utilises Fujifilm’s more than 85 years of colour science and photographic expertise to ensure dramatic, vibrant results straight out of the camera. But these aren’t your usual run-of-the-mill colour profiles. Each Film Simulation has been precision engineered to reproduce the colours and tones from some of Fujifilm’s most popular analogue film surfaces and photo finishing processes.

With these Film Simulation modes, images and videos are ready to be shared (whether that’s from the camera to a smartphone or from a computer to social media) the second the image has been captured. Find out more about what each Film Simulation can do in the Film Simulations tab above.

Monochromatic Colour

Photographers can choose a key colour from a matrix of warm/cool tones and Magenta/Green hues, incorporating rich gradation and lending a much more personal flair to their compositions. With Monochromatic Mode, users can enhance the look of their photos with added hues, going further than the tried-and-tested methods of using warm tones for a vintage feel and cold tones for a grittier, more urban effect.

Clarity Setting

The X-Pro3’s Clarity Setting allows photographers to decide whether or not to shoot a scene with crisp sharpness or with a softer feel. With clarity control, fine-tuning a composition to match personal preferences has never been so easy.

Design

The X-Pro3’s unique design allows photographers to remain focused on the scene in front of them while various function buttons and wheels make operation a breeze. The titanium top cover and base plate lend that vintage feel to the camera whilst remaining corrosion resistant, and the magnesium used for the camera’s frame ensures it is protected against the everyday knocks and bumps that can occur when photographers are shooting in ever-changing environments. This compact and lightweight camera is also weatherproof, allowing photographers to explore with the X-Pro 3 around their neck when not in use, rather than having to place the camera in a protective carry bag — enabling on-the-fly shooting without worrying about weather damage.

Hidden LCD Screen

A hidden LCD screen lends a more traditional feel to the image-making process, encouraging the photographer to focus more on their composition through the viewfinder. A small memory LCD is present on the back of the camera, allowing users to take note of settings, white balance, Film Simulations, and more — regardless of whether or not the camera is powered on. However, flipping over the back of the camera on which the memory LCD can be found reveals a hidden full-size LCD screen. Photographers can use this screen to adjust settings and check the status of the camera, as well as offering a live view when creating images. But, in essence, the X-Pro3 wants to be used as a traditional camera would be used, through the OVF, without the distraction of checking every image after it’s been captured.
